The 393502A640 oxygen sensor is a high-precision electrochemical sensing module designed for real-time exhaust gas monitoring in modern vehicles. Installed in the exhaust system, it detects the oxygen concentration in exhaust gases and sends accurate feedback signals to the engine control unit (ECU). This allows the ECU to precisely adjust the air-fuel ratio, optimize combustion efficiency, reduce harmful emissions, and improve fuel economy and engine performance. As a professionally manufactured OE replacement part, it is widely compatible with a variety of Hyundai and Kia models.

Structural Composition

Optical Module Contains dual infrared emitters and receivers sealed within a transparent lens window, calibrated for accurate rain detection across varying light conditions.
Control PCB Embedded microcontroller processes sensor signals and outputs wiper commands via standardized vehicle interface.
Mounting Bracket Integrated plastic housing with OEM-matching geometry and retention clips for secure attachment to the windshield's black frit area.
Electrical Connector 6-pin or 8-pin gray automotive connector (depending on variant) with tin-plated terminals for corrosion resistance and reliable signal integrity.
Thermal Management Layer Internal thermal pad dissipates heat from electronics, preventing overheating during prolonged operation.

Installation and Usage Notes

  • Always disconnect the vehicle battery before installation to avoid electrical damage.
  • Clean the threaded mounting hole on the exhaust pipe to ensure a tight seal and proper installation.
  • Do not use lubricants or contaminants on the sensing element and connector, as this will affect sensor performance.
  • After installation, use a diagnostic tool to clear engine fault codes and perform idle adjustment if necessary.
  • Replace the oxygen sensor if you experience increased fuel consumption, rough idle, failed emission test, or illuminated check engine light.

Oxygen Sensor - Key Performance Parameters

  • Response Time

Response time reflects how quickly the oxygen sensor output responds to changes in exhaust gas composition in the exhaust pipe. It usually refers to the switching time from rich to lean or lean to rich.Under normal conditions, the response time should be less than 100 ms.When the oxygen sensor is contaminated by engine oil or has become aged, its response time will slow down.

  • Light-off Time

Light-off time is the period from engine start until the sensor reaches its activation temperature. The oxygen sensor can only operate normally and output accurate signals after reaching its activation temperature. The engine electronic control system (ECU) can only enter closed-loop fuel control after receiving a valid signal from the oxygen sensor, thereby reducing pollutant emissions.

  • Output Voltage

A properly functioning oxygen sensor will switch its output voltage between 100 mV and 800 mV.For low-quality or aged oxygen sensors, the output voltage range becomes narrower, for example, switching only between 350 mV and 550 mV.

  • Working Life

Working life refers to the effective operating mileage or time during which the sensor maintains its key performance parameters (such as response time and output voltage) within acceptable limits.Service life directly affects vehicle maintenance costs and the long-term effectiveness of emission control. The typical service life is normally 80,000 to 160,000 kilometers.Actual lifespan is significantly affected by fuel quality (impurities including lead, sulfur, and silicon will accelerate aging), engine operating conditions, and the operating environment.

  • Heater Resistance

Heated oxygen sensors are equipped with a built-in heating element to ensure they quickly reach operating temperature.Heating power is strictly related to heater resistance, which is a key factor affecting the light-off time of the oxygen sensor.
